The formed bracket mounted avionics equipment with limits on weight and vibration response.
The customer’s challenge
Vibration fatigue, unstable mounting references and excessive weight affected the earlier bracket.
Material and fabrication route
1.5 mm 7075 aluminum.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → hardware insertion → hard anodizing → assembly → vibration testing.
Manufacturing changes
Revised geometry, machined interfaces and hard anodizing addressed fatigue behavior, fit and wear.
Engineering analysis
The bracket had to preserve equipment location while reducing structural mass. Its machined mounting references addressed fit, while the revised section and finish addressed the project’s vibration and wear concerns. The vibration range and power spectral density describe the reported project test; they should not be replaced with an unsupported general claim that every bracket is qualified for every aircraft environment.
Inspection and project results
The bracket passed the reported random-vibration test, remained securely located and met the project weight target.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Random-vibration range | 10–2,000 Hz |
| Test PSD | 0.04 g²/Hz |
| Weight versus design value | ≤90% |
| Hard-anodize film | ≥25 μm |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Equipment mass and mounting pattern.
- Vibration test profile.
- Weight target and comparison basis.
- Finish and interface tolerances.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
