Project Overview

Application The chassis combined a welded frame, battery compartment and drive-wheel mounts for a logistics AGV.
Materials 2.0 mm Q235 welded steel frame; aluminum covers.
Process Route Cutting → welding → stress relief → powder coating → wheel assembly → load testing.
Customer Challenge The frame deflected under load, nonparallel wheel mounts caused tracking errors and battery replacement was difficult.

The customer’s challenge

The frame deflected under load, nonparallel wheel mounts caused tracking errors and battery replacement was difficult.

Material and fabrication route

2.0 mm Q235 welded steel frame; aluminum covers.

Process route: Cutting → welding → stress relief → powder coating → wheel assembly → load testing.

Manufacturing changes

A stiffer frame, finish-machined wheel interfaces and a quick-change battery drawer addressed the mechanical issues.

Engineering analysis

The chassis issues came from three different interfaces: structural load support, wheel alignment and battery access. Reinforcing the frame alone would not correct a misaligned wheel reference, while a well-aligned chassis could still be difficult to service. The solution treated the welded structure, machined wheel mounts and removable battery arrangement as one assembly. Tracking and operating-duration results refer to the configured AGV.

Inspection and project results

The loaded chassis showed no reported deformation and the configured AGV achieved straight-line deviation ≤5 mm/m.

Project measurement or production detailRecorded value
Load test≥500 kg
Straight-line deviation≤5 mm/m
Operating duration≥12 hours
Battery replacement≤2 minutes

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Vehicle load and load distribution.
  • Wheel mounting datums.
  • Battery envelope and withdrawal path.
  • Loaded tracking acceptance criteria.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
