Formed aluminum panels provided exterior architectural cladding with coordinated appearance and mounting interfaces.
The customer’s challenge
Color differences, panel waviness and inconsistent mounting brackets complicated installation and appearance acceptance.
Material and fabrication route
2.5–3.0 mm 3003 aluminum.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → grinding → fluorocarbon coating → inspection → packing.
Manufacturing changes
A coordinated three-coat finish, stiffeners and standardized brackets controlled color, flatness and installation interfaces.
Engineering analysis
The panels were assessed as a coordinated facade package rather than as isolated flat sheets. Surface color, flatness and bracket compatibility each affected the finished installation. Standardized brackets addressed repeatable fitting, while the coating route addressed appearance consistency across adjacent panels. The recorded coating thickness is a project result; it does not establish an unreported service life for every building exposure.
Inspection and project results
The accepted panels achieved color difference ΔE ≤1.5 and flatness ≤2 mm/m with compatible mounting details.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Color difference | ΔE ≤1.5 |
| Panel flatness | ≤2 mm/m |
| Fluorocarbon coating | ≥40 μm |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Panel schedule and installation grid.
- Color reference and permitted variation.
- Flatness and bracket tolerances.
- Coating system and packing requirements.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
