The customer’s challenge

Inadequate enclosure protection and disordered safety wiring accompanied slow emergency-stop response.

Material and fabrication route

2.0 mm Q235 steel; 2.5 mm galvanized mounting plate.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → powder coating → safety-relay installation → powered inspection.

Manufacturing changes

IP54 enclosure protection, segregated safety wiring, dual-channel stop circuitry and clear identification addressed the installation issues.

Engineering analysis

The sheet metal cabinet supported a wider control-system change. Enclosure protection, segregated wiring and identification helped organize the installation, but the stop-response and safety-level results belong to the configured circuitry and controls. A new cabinet order therefore needs both mechanical drawings and an agreed electrical responsibility boundary. Reproducing the cabinet dimensions alone would not reproduce the documented control-system performance.

Inspection and project results

The configured control system passed the reported safety PLC test, with emergency-stop response ≤100 ms.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Cabinet and mounting-plate drawings.
  • Safety-circuit responsibility.
  • Wiring separation and service access.
  • Configured-system acceptance tests.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
