The mobile base integrated a battery compartment, controller location and protective covers for a collaborative-robot platform.
The customer’s challenge
A high center of gravity caused forward tipping during emergency stops. Battery replacement was difficult and covers interfered with internal components.
Material and fabrication route
1.5 mm Q235 steel; 2.0 mm aluminum covers.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → powder coating → assembly → drop testing.
Manufacturing changes
A lowered battery compartment reduced the center of gravity. A quick-change battery drawer and additional service openings improved maintenance access.
Engineering analysis
Lowering the battery position changed the platform’s mass arrangement while the drawer changed its service interface. These are related design decisions: easy access must not undo the stability benefit of the revised battery location. The stop behavior, operating duration and payload figures describe the configured mobile platform. A similar base requires its own robot, battery and stopping-condition inputs rather than relying on the metal base dimensions alone.
Inspection and project results
The configured platform did not tip forward during the reported stop test. Battery replacement took no more than one minute and the project passed its reported mobile-robot safety test.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Center-of-gravity height | ≤150 mm |
| Battery replacement | ≤1 minute |
| Operating duration | ≥8 hours |
| Platform load | ≥50 kg |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Robot and battery mass distribution.
- Emergency-stop operating conditions.
- Battery removal envelope.
- Base mounting and service interfaces.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
