The customer’s challenge

Restricted cooling overheated the motor, while vibration noise and awkward installation affected operation.

Material and fabrication route

1.2 mm Q235 steel; 1.5 mm aluminum.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → powder coating → ventilation openings → inspection.

Manufacturing changes

Revised openings, coordinated protection, isolation pads and quick-removal mounts improved the cover arrangement.

Engineering analysis

The cover had to permit heat removal without losing the required protection or making maintenance awkward. Opening geometry, isolation pads and removable mounts addressed those different needs. The recorded temperature and noise changes compare the configured motor installation before and after the revision. The cover itself has no universal temperature-reduction rating independent of the motor, surrounding equipment and ventilation arrangement.

Inspection and project results

The project recorded a 10 K reduction in motor temperature rise, IP54 and 5 dB lower noise.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Motor envelope and operating load.
  • Required airflow and protection.
  • Isolation and fastener interfaces.
  • Maintenance removal path.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
