Project Overview

Application The drawers and slide-out trays carried reagents and samples inside medical equipment, where smooth movement and safe edges mattered to routine use.
Materials 1.0 mm SECC steel; aluminum slide components.
Process Route Laser cutting → bending → hardware insertion → powder coating → quiet-slide assembly → inspection.
Customer Challenge Loaded drawers sagged, movement produced noise, and sharp tray edges affected handling.

The drawers and slide-out trays carried reagents and samples inside medical equipment, where smooth movement and safe edges mattered to routine use.

The customer’s challenge

Loaded drawers sagged, movement produced noise, and sharp tray edges affected handling.

Material and fabrication route

1.0 mm SECC steel; aluminum slide components.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → hardware insertion → powder coating → quiet-slide assembly → inspection.

Manufacturing changes

Quiet ball-bearing slides with damping, hemmed and deburred edges, and underside stiffeners improved the tray assembly.

Engineering analysis

The tray needed to remain usable under load, not merely support a static mass. The slides, stiffeners and edge treatment addressed movement, sag and handling respectively. The published load, cycle and noise figures are separate observations for the tray assembly. Reading them together gives a clearer view of the project than describing the part simply as a precision-bent panel.

Inspection and project results

The trays moved without sticking, carried 5 kg without sagging, and had no sharp exposed edges in the accepted assembly.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Payload and load distribution.
  • Slide mounting and extension.
  • Cycle and noise test conditions.
  • Accessible edge and cleaning requirements.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
