The customer’s challenge

Leaking joints, high resistance and mismatched site interfaces increased energy use and installation work.

Material and fabrication route

0.8–1.2 mm galvanized steel; stainless option.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → seam forming → flanging → sealing → leakage and resistance testing.

Manufacturing changes

Revised sections and elbow radii, double sealing with formed seams and sealant, common flanges and acoustic treatment improved the route.

Engineering analysis

The revised duct route combined geometry with connection details. Section and elbow changes addressed resistance, while formed seams and sealant addressed leakage. Standardized flanges reduced mismatched site interfaces. The reported resistance reduction is a comparison for the project route, not a promise for every duct size. Another installation needs its own flow condition and interface layout before equivalent performance can be assessed.

Inspection and project results

Leakage reached ≤1% and resistance fell by 20% in the project comparison, with matched installation interfaces.

Project measurement or production detailRecorded value

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Airflow and available pressure.
  • Duct sections and elbow geometry.
  • Site flange interfaces.
  • Leakage and acoustic acceptance.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
