Project Overview

Application Front panels located indicators and carried equipment identification with a consistent cosmetic finish.
Materials 2.0 mm aluminum; 1.0 mm steel.
Process Route Laser cutting → bending → anodizing / powder coating → printing / laser marking → window assembly → inspection.
Customer Challenge Markings wore away, indicator brightness was uneven and inaccurate holes impaired panel installation.

The customer’s challenge

Markings wore away, indicator brightness was uneven and inaccurate holes impaired panel installation.

Material and fabrication route

2.0 mm aluminum; 1.0 mm steel.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → anodizing / powder coating → printing / laser marking → window assembly → inspection.

Manufacturing changes

Paint-filled engraving, a light-guide arrangement, tighter hole control and coordinated finishing addressed the issues.

Engineering analysis

The front panel combined mechanical location, visual consistency and durable identification. A correctly sized opening would not solve uneven indicator appearance or markings that wore away. The project therefore coordinated the finish, light-guide arrangement and marking method with the hole pattern. The wipe-cycle result applies to the tested marking system; replacement artwork and finish changes should remain revision-controlled.

Inspection and project results

Markings withstood the reported wipe test, indicators appeared uniform and the panels fitted consistently.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Indicator and connector layout.
  • Approved artwork and marking method.
  • Cosmetic reference and finish.
  • Wipe-test and hole-position acceptance.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
