Fan scrolls, dampers and flanges formed components for commercial air-conditioning and fresh-air equipment.
The customer’s challenge
Leaky joints, inefficient noisy scrolls and stiff dampers limited airflow performance and interchangeability.
Material and fabrication route
0.8–1.5 mm galvanized steel.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → seam forming → flange forming → assembly → airflow and leakage testing.
Manufacturing changes
Revised scroll profiles, sealed seams, stainless damper bearings and common flanges addressed the component interfaces.
Engineering analysis
The component package affected both how much air moved and how easily the assembly could be installed and adjusted. Revised scrolls addressed flow behavior, sealed seams addressed leakage, and bearing changes addressed damper movement. Common flanges improved interchangeability between components. The published airflow and noise observations describe the configured equipment, not a rating that every individual flange or formed shell can achieve.
Inspection and project results
The project recorded leakage ≤2%, improved fan operation and easier damper adjustment.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Air leakage | ≤2% |
| Airflow | ≥5,000 m³/h |
| Noise | ≤65 dB(A) |
| Sheet thickness | 0.8–1.5 mm |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Fan and damper interfaces.
- Operating airflow and pressure.
- Flange patterns and sealing details.
- Leakage and adjustment acceptance.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
