The customer’s challenge

Corrosion exposure, gas leakage, inadequate electrical isolation and restricted service space affected the earlier arrangement.

Material and fabrication route

2.0 mm 316L stainless steel; polypropylene insulating liners.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → passivation → insulation assembly → gas-tightness testing.

Manufacturing changes

The project used 316L metalwork, gas-detection interfaces, insulating barriers and removable service panels.

Engineering analysis

The enclosure brought together corrosive exposure, gas interfaces and electrical isolation. Selecting stainless material addressed only part of that combination. Insulating liners, removable panels and the specified gas interfaces formed part of the equipment arrangement. The leakage and insulation figures describe separate checks, while the KOH concentration identifies the reported exposure. These details help a buyer distinguish the metalwork scope from the complete electrolyzer assembly.

Inspection and project results

The configured equipment met the reported leakage and insulation checks, resisted the stated KOH exposure and provided improved maintenance access.

Project measurement or production detailRecorded value
Hydrogen leak rate≤1 × 10⁻⁶ Pa·m³/s
Insulation resistance≥10 MΩ
Corrosion exposure5% KOH
Hydrogen output≥50 Nm³/h

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Equipment and pipe interface drawings.
  • Chemical exposure and cleaning conditions.
  • Insulation and gas-system responsibilities.
  • Leakage and service-access acceptance.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
