An industrial field-control enclosure required coordinated water protection, corrosion resistance and serviceable mounting.
The customer’s challenge
Water ingress, condensation, corrosion and inadequate heat removal affected the previous enclosure.
Material and fabrication route
1.5 mm 304 stainless steel; coated Q235 steel option.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → powder coating / passivation → seal assembly → protection testing.
Manufacturing changes
Improved seals, a breathing valve, outdoor coating, universal mounting options and cooling fins addressed the installation.
Engineering analysis
Water protection, condensation and cooling required a coordinated enclosure arrangement. The seal addressed external entry, the breathing provision addressed the internal environment, and the fins addressed heat removal. Removable or universal mounting details also affected service access. The project record therefore supports an assembly-level discussion: it connects the housing, finish, seals and installed conditions rather than relying on a material-grade claim alone.
Inspection and project results
The tested configuration achieved IP65, no reported condensation and temperature rise ≤30 K.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Protection test | IP65 |
| Project coating classification | C4 |
| Temperature rise | ≤30 K |
| Enclosure size | 400 × 300 × 200 mm |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Installed equipment and heat load.
- Ambient and moisture conditions.
- Seal and breathing-device interfaces.
- Mounting and service clearances.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
