The housing supported a ticketing or information terminal with a touchscreen and protected public-facing surfaces.
The customer’s challenge
Poor cosmetic finish, a nonflat touchscreen mount and limited maintenance space affected the terminal.
Material and fabrication route
1.5 mm Q235 steel; 2.0 mm aluminum front panel; tempered glass.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → powder coating → screen printing → glass assembly → inspection.
Manufacturing changes
Refined panel geometry, a floating screen mount, impact-resistant glass, a wide-opening service door and organized wiring revised the assembly.
Engineering analysis
The terminal’s front surface was both a user interface and a mechanical assembly. A floating screen mount addressed display flatness, while the glass and enclosure details addressed public-facing protection. The wide service opening and wiring layout addressed a separate maintenance problem. Screen flatness and impact performance should be assessed for the completed front assembly, with its actual mounting and glazing arrangement.
Inspection and project results
The terminal achieved the reported IK10 impact result with a flat touchscreen installation and improved access.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Impact test | IK10 |
| Screen flatness | ≤0.2 mm |
| Front protection | IP54 |
| Terminal envelope | 500 × 400 × 1,600 mm |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Touchscreen and glass specification.
- Front-panel mounting and flatness.
- Impact and protection acceptance.
- Service-door and wiring access.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
