The cabinet protected low-voltage controls and variable-frequency-drive components used around mining equipment.
The customer’s challenge
Dust and moisture entered through door gaps and caused contamination. Thin coating at poorly dressed corners corroded, while mismatched mounting holes required drilling on site.
Material and fabrication route
Q235B cold-rolled steel; galvanized mounting beams; 304 stainless option for specified humid or corrosive environments.
Process route: Laser cutting → CNC bending → tack and structural welding → edge and weld dressing → cleaning and phosphating → outdoor powder coating → hardware and seal assembly → protection inspection.
Manufacturing changes
Revised door returns and aging-resistant seals improved protection. Rounded edges and adjusted coating parameters covered vulnerable corners. Customer component dimensions were confirmed before laser-cutting the mounting pattern.
Engineering analysis
The cabinet had three installation problems: ingress at the door, corrosion at vulnerable edges, and holes that did not match the equipment. Seals, edge preparation and confirmed mounting dimensions addressed those problems directly. The coating and hole-position results support the reported ready-to-fit installation. This case concerns the stated cabinet configuration and does not add an unreported explosion-protection qualification to the metal enclosure.
Inspection and project results
The cabinet met the project’s dusty, humid operating requirement, resolved the observed edge corrosion and allowed direct installation without secondary drilling.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Component mounting dimensions.
- Door returns and seal interfaces.
- Edge preparation and coating specification.
- Dust, moisture and installation acceptance.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
