The project consolidated drawing-based fabrication, welding, finishing and assembly for a multi-product OEM customer.
The customer’s challenge
Many low-volume variants, short schedules and inconsistent supplier quality increased coordination effort.
Material and fabrication route
Drawing-specified Q235 steel, 304 stainless steel and aluminum.
Process route: Blanking → bending → welding → finishing → assembly → inspection → packing.
Manufacturing changes
A responsive OEM workflow, common quality criteria, a dedicated project contact and flexible production coordinated the orders.
Engineering analysis
The supply problem was coordination across variants rather than one difficult component. Common quality criteria and a single project interface made the fabrication, finish and assembly routes easier to manage as a package. Variant count, batch size and acceptance rate describe different aspects of that package. The lead-time improvement is a comparison within the recorded customer program, so new orders still require their own schedule review.
Inspection and project results
The project recorded 30% shorter lead time, consistent quality and continued repeat work.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Monthly variants | ≥20 |
| Batch quantity | 10–500 parts |
| Recorded lead time | ≤15 days |
| Acceptance rate | ≥99% |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Drawing package and variant list.
- Batch quantities and release dates.
- Shared versus variant-specific acceptance.
- Assembly, packing and delivery scope.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
