The cabinet protected railway signaling equipment from vibration and outdoor exposure.
The customer’s challenge
Vibration loosened the door, disrupted the seal and shifted mounting references.
Material and fabrication route
1.5 mm 304 stainless steel; Q235 mounting base.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → passivation / powder coating → secured hardware assembly → vibration testing.
Manufacturing changes
Secured hinges, a three-point lock, reinforced seals and a grouted base stabilized the interfaces.
Engineering analysis
Vibration could affect the door, seal and mounting references at the same time. Secured hinges and the three-point lock addressed retention, reinforced seals addressed entry paths, and the base arrangement addressed installed stability. The datum-displacement and protection results therefore describe different consequences of the revised assembly. A comparable trackside cabinet needs the actual mounting and vibration conditions as part of its specification.
Inspection and project results
The cabinet passed the reported railway vibration test without door loosening, achieved IP65 and maintained the stated datum stability.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Protection test | IP65 |
| Mounting-datum displacement | ≤0.5 mm |
| Stainless sheet | 1.5 mm |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Base and installed mounting details.
- Door, hinge and lock arrangement.
- Railway vibration test conditions.
- Seal and datum-stability acceptance.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
