Project Overview

Application A stainless camera housing protected an industrial inspection camera and controlled the relationship between its mount and optical window.
Materials 1.2 mm 304 stainless steel; tempered-glass window.
Process Route Laser cutting → bending → welding → electropolishing → glass installation → seal inspection.
Customer Challenge The camera mount and window were misaligned, distorting images. Inadequate environmental protection allowed condensation at the lens.

The customer’s challenge

The camera mount and window were misaligned, distorting images. Inadequate environmental protection allowed condensation at the lens.

Material and fabrication route

1.2 mm 304 stainless steel; tempered-glass window.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → electropolishing → glass installation → seal inspection.

Manufacturing changes

Machining the mounting and window faces in one setup controlled their relationship. A dry internal compartment and window heating addressed condensation.

Engineering analysis

The camera housing had to preserve an optical relationship as well as protect its contents. Machining the window and mounting faces together addressed alignment, while drying and heating addressed condensation. The reported deviation concerns that defined relationship in the tested housing. For another camera, window construction, lens position and environmental conditions should be reviewed together rather than inferred from the enclosure’s external size.

Inspection and project results

The reported optical alignment deviation reached ≤0.05 mm. The housing achieved IP67 and the tested arrangement showed no condensation or image distortion.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Camera and lens mounting references.
  • Window geometry and optical interface.
  • Temperature and moisture conditions.
  • Alignment and protection acceptance.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
