Project Overview

Application Brackets, covers and mounting plates were supplied as complete sets against a robot bill of materials.
Materials SECC steel, 304 stainless steel and aluminum; 0.8–2.0 mm.
Process Route Laser cutting → bending → hardware insertion → finishing → kit sorting → inspection.
Customer Challenge Fragmented supply caused missing parts, inconsistent quality and assembly stoppages.

The customer’s challenge

Fragmented supply caused missing parts, inconsistent quality and assembly stoppages.

Material and fabrication route

SECC steel, 304 stainless steel and aluminum; 0.8–2.0 mm.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → hardware insertion → finishing → kit sorting → inspection.

Manufacturing changes

Consolidated kit supply, a shared quality standard and safety stock supported complete BOM-based deliveries.

Engineering analysis

Complete-set delivery addressed a problem that individual part inspection could not solve: production stopped when an otherwise acceptable BOM was incomplete. Consolidation, common quality criteria and stock planning addressed the supply package. The delivery rate and set quantity describe the recorded program. A comparable OEM arrangement needs clear part revisions, kit definitions and delivery windows to make those measures meaningful.

Inspection and project results

No assembly stoppages were reported in the project supply record. Quality became consistent and on-time delivery reached ≥98%.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Released BOM and part revisions.
  • Complete-kit definition.
  • Finish and inspection consistency.
  • Delivery windows and stock responsibility.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
