The rack structure supported high-density AI training equipment with combined structural and airflow requirements.
The customer’s challenge
Standard racks lacked the load capacity for heavy servers, while airflow leakage limited high-density deployment.
Material and fabrication route
2.5 mm Q235 steel; 3.0 mm uprights; aluminum doors.
Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → grinding → powder coating → load testing → airflow testing.
Manufacturing changes
Reinforced uprights and crossmembers increased stiffness. Doors with at least 70% open area and revised airflow seals supported cooling.
Engineering analysis
The rack had to support heavy equipment without treating airflow as an afterthought. Uprights and crossmembers addressed structural load, while door openness and seals addressed the cooling route. Static load, rack height and installation power density describe different aspects of the configuration. The case is useful for comparing those constraints together rather than selecting a frame solely by its advertised load capacity.
Inspection and project results
The rack reached the reported static-load and ventilation targets for the AI installation.
| Project measurement or production detail | Recorded value |
|---|---|
| Static load test | ≥1,500 kg |
| Door open area | ≥70% |
| Rack height | 42U |
| Installation power density | ≥30 kW/rack |
These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.
Planning a similar OEM component
A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:
- Equipment mass and distribution.
- Rail and upright interfaces.
- Door airflow and bypass sealing.
- Installed load and ventilation acceptance.
Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
