The customer’s challenge

Doors distorted, locks failed, cabinet joints were uneven and moisture protection was inadequate.

Material and fabrication route

1.0 mm Q235 steel; cold-rolled steel doors.

Process route: Laser cutting → bending → welding → powder coating → electronic-lock installation → powered testing → commissioning.

Manufacturing changes

Door stiffeners, industrial electronic locks, a more integrated weldment and common datums improved the structure.

Engineering analysis

Repeated compartments made small alignment differences important: inconsistent door gaps could affect both appearance and lock engagement across the cabinet. Stiffeners and common datums addressed that relationship, while industrial locks addressed the operating mechanism. The lock-failure observation and endurance result are separate measures in the project record. Comparable acceptance should define the operating population, cycle conditions and counting method.

Inspection and project results

The project recorded lock failures ≤0.1%, uniform gaps and stable system operation with no observed door distortion.

Project measurement or production detailRecorded value
Recorded lock failure≤0.1%
Compartments≥12 doors/group
Door gap≤0.3 mm
Lock endurance≥100,000 cycles

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Compartment and door schedule.
  • Lock mounting and engagement.
  • Gap and cabinet assembly datums.
  • Failure-rate and endurance test basis.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
