The customer’s challenge

The initial supports lacked wind resistance, corroded and were difficult to adjust to the required module spacing.

Material and fabrication route

Hot-dip galvanized Q235 structural steel; aluminum rails.

Process route: Section cutting → punching → galvanizing → anodizing → assembly → load testing.

Manufacturing changes

The structure was designed to the site wind inputs, with coordinated corrosion finishes, adjustable clamps and revised spacing.

Engineering analysis

Adjustment and corrosion protection were part of the mounting package as well as structural support. Common interfaces needed to accommodate module spacing while preserving the intended load path. The published load result belongs to the tested site configuration. A new solar support therefore starts with its own wind, snow and installation inputs, with rails, clamps and foundations treated as connected interfaces.

Inspection and project results

The project passed its reported wind and load checks and improved installation adjustment. The published dimensions and load result remain specific to that configuration.

Project measurement or production detailRecorded value

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Site wind and snow inputs.
  • Module and rail arrangement.
  • Foundation and clamp interfaces.
  • Finish and configuration-specific load acceptance.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
