The customer’s challenge

The top dented under load, weld crevices trapped contamination and the support frame swayed.

Material and fabrication route

1.5 mm 304 stainless top; tubular steel support.

Process route: Tube cutting → sheet bending → welding → electropolishing → leveling → load testing.

Manufacturing changes

Underside stiffeners, blended continuous welds, diagonal bracing and adjustable feet stabilized the table and improved cleaning access.

Engineering analysis

The worktable needed a stable working surface that could also be cleaned around joints. Underside stiffeners addressed local top support, while continuous blended welds addressed crevices. Bracing and adjustable feet addressed the installed frame. The load and flatness figures describe separate acceptance checks and should be considered with the worktop size and loading arrangement when evaluating a similar table.

Inspection and project results

The table carried ≥300 kg without reported deformation, remained stable and met the project’s cleaning and acceptance requirements.

These figures describe the project configuration and production scope above. Dimensional, material and production details are identified separately from performance tests. For a new order, the inspection method and acceptance criteria should be agreed against the released drawings.

Planning a similar OEM component

A useful RFQ for this application should make the following interfaces and acceptance requirements clear:

  • Worktop size and load distribution.
  • Cleaning and surface-finish requirements.
  • Frame and adjustable-foot arrangement.
  • Flatness and load-test acceptance.

Include the current drawing revision, mating-component information, quantities and required delivery sequence. Identifying unresolved requirements at quotation stage helps distinguish fabrication work from the equipment-level checks that the project needs.
