03 / Manufacturing Process

From Tube to Tested, Sealed Manifold

Coolant manifolds live or die on weld integrity and cleanliness. Our process engineers both in from the start.

01

Tube Cutting & Bending

Precision cutting and CNC bending of 304L/316L tube to the manifold geometry — minimizing joints and fitting the target envelope.

02

Precision Welding

TIG / orbital welding of joints, branches, and fittings — full-penetration, low-contamination welds that hold pressure and resist corrosion.

03

Coupling & Valve Integration

Installation of quick couplings, isolation valves, flow setters, and air-bleed provisions to your connection specification.

04

Pressure & Leak Test

Hydrostatic or pneumatic testing is performed only to the agreed pressure, hold time, acceptance limits and sampling plan before cleaning.

05

Passivate, Flush & Dry

Passivation, flushing to remove weld residue and debris, drying, and sealing — so no contaminants reach the cold plates downstream.

06

Seal, Document & Ship

Capped and sealed, with full documentation — material certs, weld and test records — traceable per unit, ready for drop-in installation.

04 / Material Options

Wetted Materials That Last the System's Life

Every coolant-contact surface must be corrosion-resistant and chemically compatible. Stainless steel has become the industry standard — here's how the grades compare.

316L Stainless Steel

The premium wetted-material standard. Superior corrosion resistance and broad coolant compatibility — preferred for long-life, mission-critical loops.

  • Corrosion Excellent
  • Coolant compat. Broadest
  • Best for Premium / long-life loops

304L Stainless Steel

The cost-effective industry standard. Excellent corrosion resistance and coolant compatibility at lower cost than 316L — widely specified for manifolds.

  • Corrosion Very good
  • Coolant compat. Wide
  • Best for Cost-optimized loops

Copper / Brass (legacy)

Traditional in early designs, increasingly replaced by stainless for coolant compatibility and cost. Available where a design specifically requires it.

  • Conductivity High
  • Coolant compat. Design-specific
  • Best for Legacy / specific designs

05 / Why It Matters

The Manifold Is the Coolant Loop's Backbone

Industry planning scenarios for AI racks can involve high heat loads, but the actual rack duty is defined by the system integrator. The manifold distributes coolant from the CDU to cold plates through integrator-defined interfaces; figures cited for AI racks are industry context, not a DRAmetal capacity claim. System-level thermal performance remains with the integrator.

Leak-Free Is Non-Negotiable

A manifold sits inches from live electronics worth far more than the manifold itself. A single leak can destroy a rack. The OEM must define the required test method and acceptance criteria for the quoted manifold.

Cleanliness Protects Cold Plates

Weld residue, tape, or debris in the fluid path clogs cold-plate microchannels and kills thermal performance. Engineered cleanliness — passivated, flushed, dried — protects the whole loop.

Drop-In Saves On-Site Risk

Pre-assembled, tested, sealed manifolds eliminate on-site fabrication — removing the biggest source of contamination and installation error in the field.

Traceability Builds Confidence

Full documentation from production to installation — material certs, weld and test records — gives operators confidence in long-term reliability.

09 / FAQ

Liquid Cooling Manifold FAQ

What material do you use for coolant manifolds?

304L and 316L stainless steel — the industry standard for wetted (coolant-contact) materials. 316L offers the broadest coolant compatibility and best corrosion resistance; 304L is a cost-effective alternative with very good performance. We help you choose based on your coolant and budget.

Do you pressure-test every manifold?

Pressure testing can be included when the RFQ defines the hydrostatic or pneumatic method, pressure, hold time, sampling plan, acceptance limits and required records.

How do you ensure cleanliness for the cooling loop?

Every manifold is passivated, flushed to remove weld residue and debris, dried, and sealed before shipping. This engineered cleanliness protects the cold-plate microchannels downstream from clogging and preserves thermal performance.

Which manifold types can you fabricate?

In-rack (vertical), in-row (horizontal), row-distribution (large-bore, CDU-side), and custom CDU pipework. We support direct-to-chip (D2C) architectures and can integrate quick couplings, isolation valves, flow setters, and air-bleed provisions to your spec.

Can you fabricate to our drawings and connection spec?

Yes. We build to your envelope, connection standard, coupling type, and flow requirements. Send us your drawings or requirements and our engineering team will review the submitted information and, where the scope is complete, provide a DFM review and quote.

Do you provide documentation and traceability?

Yes — full documentation per unit, including material certificates, weld records, and pressure-test records, traceable from production to installation.
