01 / What We Fabricate

A Compact Instrument Housing, Not a Generic Project Box

Use this route when an OEM instrument needs its own base, covers and front/rear interface panels. It differs from a large medical equipment cabinet, a local protective cover or an internal chassis supplied without the outer housing.

Medical & Diagnostic Instruments

Compact metal housings coordinated around OEM-defined display, board, connector and service interfaces.

Laboratory Analyzers

Drawing-defined bench housings with the intended installation, exposure and maintenance conditions supplied by the equipment designer.

Electronic Test Equipment

Front and rear interface panels, base trays and removable covers for measurement and control equipment programs.

Instrument Family Kits

Common bases and separately identified panel variants where compatibility and revision boundaries are explicitly defined.

Supply boundary: custom instrument metalwork

DRAmetal supplies drawing-defined enclosure components and quoted mechanical assemblies. Electronics integration, thermal performance, electrical safety, ingress requirements and final instrument approval need an assigned responsible party and an agreed verification scope. Applicable quality, compliance and product documentation can be provided for project review; the enclosure illustrations do not establish a device rating.

02 / Mechanical Configuration

Choose the Housing Split Around Assembly and Service

These are representative fabrication configurations, not stocked models. Define the geometry and removal direction rather than relying on terms such as clamshell, which suppliers may use differently.

U-Cover Instrument Housings Top & Sides

U-Cover Instrument Housings

A top-and-sides cover with a separate base and interface panels. Review board insertion and the path needed to lift or slide the cover.

  • Reference Defined base
  • Access Cover removal
  • Panels OEM cutouts
Split-Shell Housings Two Halves

Split-Shell Housings

Two shallow shell halves arranged around the electronics and mating interfaces. The locating half, seam and fastener access are drawing-defined.

  • Split Assembly-led
  • Seam Specified fit
  • Hardware Approved BOM
Sloped Instrument Consoles Operator Face

Sloped Instrument Consoles

Formed desktop housings with an inclined display or control face and an agreed rear service route; component footprints remain OEM inputs.

  • Face OEM angle
  • Cutouts Component-led
  • Finish Defined zones
Base, Cover and Panel Kits Mechanical Kit

Base, Cover and Panel Kits

Separately identified trays, panels, brackets and approved hardware supplied loose or as the mechanical subassembly included in the quotation.

  • Delivery Parts or kit
  • Variants Revision-linked
  • Packout Protected faces
03 / Technical Capabilities

04 / Manufacturing Process

From Instrument Interfaces to a Repeatable Metalwork Package

01

Define the Supply Scope

Identify the base, covers, panels, brackets and hardware to quote; separate OEM integration and bought-out components.

02

Review Interface References

Connect PCB supports, panel apertures and component footprints to the released assembly datums.

03

Check the Assembly Route

Review board insertion, cover removal, connector access and the stated installed envelope.

04

Confirm Finish and Records

Agree cosmetic zones, masking, artwork responsibility, inspection state and documentation before release.

05

Fabricate and Verify Scope

Cut, form, finish and assemble the quoted metalwork; perform the dimensional and reference fit checks included in the order.

06

Control Repeat Configurations

Identify the drawing and hardware revision, distinguish panel variants and protect finished interfaces for delivery.

05 / Why It Matters

Four Interfaces to Resolve Before Cutting Metal

A small instrument can have a short dimensional chain and very little spare space. Review the finished mechanical assembly rather than treating every panel as an independent flat part.

Board-to-Connector Alignment

Support height, board reference and rear-panel position must locate the same interface without forcing the PCB into place.

Visible Front Face

Coordinate cutouts, bezel coverage, marking registration and cosmetic zones using approved component and artwork references.

Airflow and Exposure Zones

Locate openings against the intended installation and exposure requirements; the OEM defines and validates equipment performance.

Service Envelope

Include the actual plug, cable route, panel withdrawal and tool access, not only the unpopulated rear-panel drawing.

The Customer Challenge

Variable dimensional growth during anodizing changed window and connector fits; lot-to-lot color variation and obstructed threads added assembly problems.

07 / Why Choose Us

A Drawing-Led Route for B2B Instrument Programs

01

Enterprise Equipment Focus

The quotation is organized around an OEM product configuration, not a retail replacement box or hobby accessory.

02

Prototype Through Repeat Supply

Pilot and repeat-order requirements are scoped separately. Share the real quantity and acceptance needs instead of assuming a universal MOQ or schedule.

03

Medical Quality Documentation

DRAmetal / Shenzhen Shixin holds ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certifications. Documentation is available on request for the applicable scope; project inspection records are agreed with the order.

04

Clear Configuration Ownership

Changes to panels, boards, artwork and cables are reviewed against the affected mechanical interfaces and released revision.

09 / FAQ

Custom Instrument Enclosure Questions

Is this a catalog of ready-made instrument boxes?

No. These are representative drawing-led fabrication scopes for OEM equipment programs. Send your enclosure and interface requirements for a project-specific quotation.

Can you quote aluminum instrument enclosures?

Yes. Aluminum sheet metal housings can be reviewed alongside stainless or coated-steel options. Specify the grade, thickness, finish and component interfaces; the selected route depends on the released design.

What files are needed for an instrument enclosure RFQ?

Provide CAD and drawings for the metalwork, board and component interface references, hardware BOM, material and finish, artwork if required, installation clearances, quantities and inspection expectations.

Can the quote include a prototype or a small OEM pilot?

Yes. Enterprise prototypes and pilot quantities can be reviewed with their actual scope. Tooling, fixtures, reference parts, records and repeat-order requirements should be identified separately; no universal MOQ or lead time is stated.

Can you coordinate the front panel and PCB mounting supports?

The quoted metalwork can include panels, trays, brackets and specified supports. Supply the actual board and connector references so the mechanical relationships and any pilot fit check can be agreed.

Does a vented or gasketed housing automatically have an IP or medical-device rating?

No automatic rating follows from those features alone. DRAmetal's applicable certification and compliance documents can support project review, while the complete equipment configuration requires its defined verification and approval scope.
