01 / What We Fabricate

The Sheet Metal Structure Around the Machine

A machine enclosure is more than a cosmetic skin. It controls operator access, service clearances, chips, coolant, airflow, noise and the visible quality of the finished equipment. We build the fabricated enclosure system around the machine interfaces defined by your engineering team.

Panel and Frame Architecture

Formed skins, welded bases, internal rails and removable panels are reviewed as one tolerance-controlled assembly.

Door and Service Access

Hinges, latches, windows, lift-off panels and maintenance openings are coordinated around real service paths.

Chip, Coolant and Airflow Control

Seams, drip edges, louvers, fan openings and filter panels are fabricated around the process environment.

Production-Ready Finish

Powder coat, stainless finishes, labels and protected packout are controlled as visible OEM product surfaces.

Our scope: the fabricated machine enclosure and hardware-ready panel system

We manufacture the sheet metal housing, welded base, doors, panels and specified hardware to your drawings. Your OEM team remains responsible for machine-level risk assessment, safety circuits, interlock validation and final compliance with applicable machinery standards.

02 / Machine Enclosure Types

Machine Housings for Industrial OEM Equipment

04 / Manufacturing Process

From Machine Interface Review to Finished Enclosure

01

Interface and DFM Review

Review machine datums, service zones, door swing, panel split lines, ventilation, chip and coolant paths, and shipping constraints.

02

Prototype Panel Set

Cut and form the first enclosure set, then verify interfaces, gaps, access and hardware before production release.

03

Frame and Panel Fabrication

Build welded bases and rails in fixtures while forming external panels in a controlled bend sequence.

04

Hardware and Subassembly

Install PEM hardware, hinges, latch brackets, window retainers, leveling points and specified purchased components.

05

Finish and Fit Check

Apply the specified finish, then verify doors, removable panels, gaps, latches and visible surface criteria.

06

Protected Export Packout

Separate cosmetic panels, brace large assemblies and pack hardware by enclosure SKU and machine revision.

05 / Why It Matters

What Makes a Machine Enclosure Production-Ready

The enclosure must fit the machine after welding and coating, remain serviceable, contain the process environment and arrive without cosmetic or dimensional damage.

Stable Panel Gaps

Datum planning and fixture-controlled bases keep door and panel gaps consistent across a machine family.

Serviceable Architecture

Panel splits, captive hardware and access doors must support maintenance without unnecessary machine disassembly.

Process Containment

Seams, drip paths, windows and ventilation details are matched to chips, coolant, dust, heat and noise.

OEM Surface Quality

Visible faces, color consistency, edge quality and shipment protection shape the customer's impression of the machine.

07 / Why Choose Us

Why Equipment OEMs Choose DRAmetal

01

Enclosure-level DFM

We review the complete panel and frame system instead of treating each drawing as an isolated part.

02

Fixture-controlled fabrication

Critical frame datums, door openings and panel interfaces are held through welding and assembly.

03

Hardware and finish integration

Hinges, latches, PEM hardware, windows and finishing can be coordinated in one production program.

04

Multi-SKU production control

Machine families are packed by model, revision and installation zone to reduce line-side sorting.

09 / FAQ

Custom Machine Enclosure FAQ

What is the difference between a machine enclosure and machine guarding?

A machine enclosure is a close-fitting housing or panel system around the equipment, often controlling chips, coolant, airflow, noise and appearance. Machine guarding usually means perimeter fencing, barriers or guards that keep personnel away from hazards.

Can you manufacture a complete CNC machine enclosure from our drawings?

Yes. We can fabricate the welded base, formed panels, hinged doors, windows, removable service covers, ventilation openings and specified hardware from your 2D and 3D drawings.

Can you install windows, hinges, latches and PEM hardware?

Yes. We can integrate window retainers, hinges, compression or quarter-turn latches, PEM nuts, studs, standoffs and other specified hardware before final inspection and packout.

Which materials are best for industrial machine housings?

Powder-coated cold-rolled steel is common for general equipment, galvanized steel improves corrosion resistance, stainless steel supports clean or wet environments, and aluminum reduces panel weight.
