04 / Material Options

Material Matched to Site and Climate

The OEM selects material and finish from site exposure, structural, corrosion and service-life requirements. Grade, thickness, coating and records remain drawing-defined.

Galvanized / Galvanneal Steel

A common project option when the released design defines grade, coating mass, thickness, pretreatment and finish requirements.

  • Cost Quantity and specification dependent
  • Strength Grade and gauge dependent
  • Finish Drawing-defined

Aluminum

A lower-mass option that may be considered for humid or coastal exposure when the OEM approves the alloy, temper, joining route and finish.

  • Corrosion Exposure and finish dependent
  • Weight Lighter
  • Use Buyer-approved applications

Stainless Hardware

Latch, hinge, fastener and coating combinations follow the approved BOM and compatibility review for the stated environment.

  • Latches Released BOM
  • Fasteners Released BOM
  • Records Specified by RFQ
05 / Why It Matters

The Enclosure Balances Three Competing Demands

Weather, acoustic and cooling-air requirements interact. The OEM supplies system inputs and acceptance criteria; the enclosure is fabricated to the released package.

Sound In, Air Through

Acoustic baffles can add airflow resistance. Intake area, exhaust path, radiator-fan data and allowable pressure loss therefore have to be reviewed together with the sound target.

Weather and Service-Life Inputs

Louvers must admit air but shed rain; panels must seal against dust and moisture. Material and finish must follow the site exposure and OEM service-life target. The OEM owns finish qualification and installed-life validation.

Compliance Is the Requirement

Site sound limits and measurement conditions should be defined by the OEM or responsible engineer. DRAmetal does not certify installed acoustic compliance.

Structure Carries the Load

The released base can include fuel-tank and lifting provisions. Loads, calculations, lift plan and installed validation remain with the OEM or responsible engineer.

09 / FAQ

Generator Enclosure FAQ

Do you build complete generators or just enclosures?

We fabricate the enclosure — the sound-attenuating, weatherproof steel/aluminum structure with louvers, acoustic treatment, cooling airflow paths, and sub-base fuel tank provisions. The engine, generator, alternator, muffler, and controls are integrated by you or your genset assembler. We build the enclosure to fit your genset package.

What sound levels can you achieve?

We build from basic weather-protective through sound-attenuated to the buyer-defined target enclosures with thicker wall assemblies, specialized acoustic materials, and tuned ventilation. The RFQ must define the source data, target, operating load, measurement position and test responsibility. DRAmetal does not promise an installed sound level without that approved scope.

Steel or aluminum — which should I choose?

Material choice depends on structural loads, mass, corrosion exposure, joining and finish. Send the approved grade, thickness, coating and site requirements; proposed substitutions require written OEM approval.

Can you integrate a sub-base fuel tank?

Yes — we fabricate the enclosure with sub-base fuel tank provisions and lifting-base integration when included in the released package design. The approved load cases and lift plan determine how the completed system may be handled. The genset OEM owns lifting, fuel-system and completed-package validation and certification.

How are wind and seismic requirements handled?

Your OEM or responsible structural engineer must define wind, seismic, anchoring and lifting loads. We manufacture the released enclosure structure and inspect the agreed mechanical characteristics; no wind or seismic rating is claimed by DRAmetal.

Does DRAmetal hold a UL 2200 listing for these enclosures?

UL certification documentation is available on request for applicable products and components. Confirm whether the proposed model and listing scope meet your project's UL 2200 requirements. If the complete genset program requires a listing, the OEM or responsible test body must define the applicable construction inputs, evidence and approval route. Final listing remains with the complete assembled genset.

What should I include in a generator enclosure RFQ?

Send released 2D drawings and 3D models, genset envelope and mass, service clearances, acoustic target and measurement condition, airflow and heat inputs, structural and lifting loads, material and thickness, finish, CTQs, inspection records, quantity, packaging, destination and delivery date.

How are quantity, packaging and delivery confirmed?

Prototype and repeat-production quantities are reviewed against tooling, acoustic materials, purchased hardware, inspection and transport splits. Price breaks, packaging, Incoterm and committed delivery date are stated in the quotation.
