01 / What We Fabricate

Component-Level Housings for Medical Equipment OEMs

This page covers smaller local housings, covers, panels and bracket kits. For a complete equipment enclosure structure with outer frame, doors and system-level panels, use the dedicated Medical Equipment Enclosures page.

Local Device Housings

Stainless or powder-coated control boxes and protective bodies for a defined device module.

Cleanable Covers and Panels

Access covers, service panels, removable skins and wipe-down surfaces with controlled edges and finish.

Internal Brackets and Trays

Mounting brackets, electronics trays, interface plates and hardware-ready internal parts.

Medical Housing Kits

Revision-controlled housings, panels, brackets and hardware packed by device model or production stage.

Our scope: component housings, covers, panels and kits

DRAmetal manufactures component-level housing metalwork to released drawings. For the complete outer enclosure structure, doors and system panels, see Medical Equipment Enclosures. The OEM owns device classification, clinical requirements, regulatory approval, ISO 13485 obligations and final validation.

From Device Housing Review to Clean-Protected Packout

01

Housing Boundary Review

Confirm the mechanical housing scope and which device validation, regulatory and clinical requirements remain with the OEM.

02

DFM and Finish Review

Review cleanable edges, bend radii, welds, hardware, surface finish, access panels and assembly sequence.

03

Fabrication

Cut, punch, bend, weld and deburr housings, covers, brackets and panel parts.

04

Surface and Hardware

Apply brushing, passivation or coating, then install PEM hardware, hinges, latches or drawing-defined components.

05

Fit and Finish Inspection

Check the edges, welds, finish, hardware presence, panel fit and mounting features defined in the agreed inspection plan.

06

Protected Packout

Pack housings and panels by device model, drawing revision or production station when that scope is included in the quotation.

05 / Why It Matters

Why Medical Device Housings Need Dedicated Sheet Metal Control

Medical equipment housings often require cleanable surfaces, controlled edges, cosmetic finish, service access and tight hardware alignment. A general enclosure process is not always enough.

Cleanable Edges

Burrs, sharp edges and crevices create cleaning and handling problems.

Finish Consistency

Brushed stainless, passivation and powder coating must be protected through fabrication and shipment.

Service Access

Doors, panels, hinges and latches need repeatable fit for maintenance and device assembly.

Revision Discipline

Medical equipment programs require drawing, BOM and packout control to avoid mixed revisions.

The Customer Challenge

Repeated opening loosened the hinge and allowed the panel to sag. The resulting cabinet gap compromised enclosure protection.

Finished housings can be packed by model, revision and production sequence when included in the agreed scope.

09 / FAQ

Medical Device Sheet Metal Housings FAQ

What medical device housing parts can DRAmetal make?

We fabricate local control housings, covers, access panels, brackets, electronics trays and hardware-ready subassembly kits to released drawings. Complete outer enclosure systems have a separate RFQ page.

Can DRAmetal support medical device certification?

Medical device certification support and related documentation are available on request. Confirm the target market, device scope and required deliverables during RFQ review. DRAmetal supplies build-to-print mechanical sheet metal parts; the OEM retains device classification, design, clinical validation and final regulatory responsibilities.

Can you support stainless and cleanable finishes?

Yes. We can fabricate stainless housings, brushed surfaces, passivation-ready parts, deburred edges and protected packout according to the drawing and finish specification.

What should be included in a medical housing RFQ?

Send drawings, STEP files, material and finish notes, edge requirements, weld notes, hardware list, cosmetic surfaces, inspection points and annual quantity.

Can an enterprise pilot order precede repeat production?

Yes. Identify the pilot quantity, mating references, inspection records and approval objectives separately from repeat-order forecasts. A small OEM development quantity is a valid project stage; quotation and schedule depend on the released design.

How are substitutions and cosmetic exceptions controlled?

The quoted scope should identify approved materials, hardware and finish criteria. Proposed alternatives or deviations require the designated buyer approval before use, with the affected order or lot identified. One pilot exception is not an automatic change to every repeat order.
