Custom medical equipment enclosures in sheet metal
for equipment OEMs and contract manufacturers.
Imaging, diagnostic, patient-monitoring and laboratory
enclosure programs are fabricated to customer-released drawings.
Send aluminum or stainless alloy details, door and
hardware interfaces, finish zones and the agreed
inspection scope. The medical-device OEM owns
regulatory approval and final device validation.
Use this page when the RFQ covers the complete outer
mechanical frame, doors and enclosure panel system,
with the supplied hardware and assembly state defined
in the BOM. This is an enclosure fabrication scope,
not a finished medical device. For a local
control housing, cover set, access panel or bracket
kit, use Medical Housing Components. For individual OEM brackets and mounting plates,
use medical equipment sheet metal parts.
From imaging system housings to portable diagnostic
enclosures and laboratory equipment chassis, each RFQ is
reviewed against the released mechanical scope.

01
DFM & OEM Requirement Review
Review drawing-defined cleanability interfaces,
material and finish notes, shielding features and
OEM-defined compliance boundaries. Medical device
certification support and related documentation are
available on request; confirm the target market, device
scope and deliverables during RFQ review. The OEM retains
design and final regulatory responsibilities.
02
Material Verification
Review mill-supplied records and project-defined
incoming checks. Alloy verification and lot
traceability are included only when quoted.
03
Precision Cutting
Fiber laser cutting and CNC punching for
drawing-defined edges, ventilation and mounting
features. CTQs are reviewed against process
capability before quotation.
04
Forming
CNC press brake forming with radiused corners (no
sharp internal angles) for cleanability. Precision
bends for consistent panel fit and seam closure.
05
Welding & Finishing
TIG welding, seam finishing and edge treatment to the
released drawing. Passivation or other stainless
finishing is coordinated when specified.
06
Surface Treatment
Coordinate drawing-defined electropolish, brushing,
passivation or coating. Roughness and coating claims
require agreed acceptance evidence.
07
Assembly & Cleaning
Install quoted hardware, gaskets and shielding
components per BOM. Cleaning, handling and protected
packout follow the agreed purchase requirements.
08
Inspection & Documentation
Supply dimensional, surface-finish and material
records only as defined in the inspection plan.
Finished-device EMI and regulatory validation remain
with the OEM.
Build-to-print medical equipment enclosure production:
precision cutting, controlled welding, finishing and
project-defined inspection records. Any controlled-
environment or packout requirement must be agreed by RFQ.
04 / Material Options
Materials We Use
Specify the grade, temper, thickness and finish for
each panel or frame member. The OEM defines exposure,
cleaning and device-level requirements; a material
family name alone does not establish suitability.
The enclosure is one mechanical part of a regulated
device. DRAmetal controls the quoted fabrication scope;
the legal manufacturer retains risk management,
regulatory compliance and final device validation.
ISO 13485
DRAmetal is ISO 13485 certified. Certificate details
are available on request. Customer quality
clauses and required records must be reviewed before
quotation and supplier approval.
IEC 60601-1
This applies to the finished medical electrical
equipment or system. The OEM owns testing and approval;
DRAmetal fabricates released mechanical features.
FDA 21 CFR 820
The legal manufacturer owns FDA quality-system and
submission obligations. Project records are supplied
only as defined in the purchase requirements.
Controlled Packout
Packaging, cleaning and handling requirements can be
defined for applications where contamination control is
required.

DRAmetal is ISO 13485 certified. We quote the
drawing, inspection and manufacturing-record scope
transparently so the OEM can qualify the supplier.
02
Cleanability engineering
We review radii, seams, edges and finish requirements
against the released drawing. The OEM validates
cleaning method and clinical suitability.
03
Regulatory documentation
Mill-supplied material records, dimensional results
and lot traceability can be provided when specified;
the OEM owns FDA and CE MDR submissions.
04
EMI / EMC expertise
We fabricate drawing-defined gasket lands, grounding
provisions and aperture features. The OEM validates
EMI/EMC performance on the assembled device.
05
Controlled handling and packout
Cleaning, surface protection and packout can be
defined in the quotation. No cleanroom certification
is implied by this page.
06
Coordinated process route
Cutting, forming, welding, available finishing,
assembly and documentation scope are confirmed in
the quotation, including approved external sources
where required.
What's the minimum order quantity for medical
enclosures?
MOQ depends on geometry, tooling, finishing,
documentation and packout. Send the released drawing
and forecast so the production route can be reviewed
before a minimum is stated. An OEM engineering sample
and a repeat-production release have different scopes;
identify the project stage rather than treating a
forecast as a committed order.
Are you ISO 13485 certified?
Yes. DRAmetal is ISO 13485 certified. Certificate details
are available on request. We manufacture
build-to-print mechanical parts to the released drawing
and agreed inspection plan. The medical-device OEM must
retain ISO 13485 supplier controls, regulatory files and
final validation responsibility.
Can you provide documentation for FDA / CE
submission?
We can supply manufacturing records specifically
included in the quotation, such as mill-supplied
material documents, dimensional results, finish or
passivation records and lot traceability. Medical device
certification support and related documentation are
available on request. Confirm the target market, device
scope and required deliverables during RFQ review. The OEM
defines how these records enter its submission file and
retains design and final regulatory responsibilities.
Do you offer antimicrobial finishes?
We can review an OEM-specified coating or stainless
finish with an approved process source. Antimicrobial
efficacy, chemical resistance and cleaning claims
require evidence and validation selected by the OEM.
Can you support controlled clean packout?
Cleaning, handling, surface protection and packout
can be quoted against customer-defined requirements,
including an approved external source where needed.
This page does not claim ISO 7 or ISO 8 cleanroom
certification.
How do you handle EMI shielding for medical imaging?
We can fabricate released mechanical features such
as gasket lands, grounding points and controlled
apertures. The medical-device OEM owns IEC 60601-1-2
test planning and validation of the assembled system.
